Forrest Kinney believes that creativity is one of the keys to happiness. His passion is to create and help others discover their own particular genius. Forrest is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM). He has published twelve books including eight Pattern Play books, two books on creativity, and two books of art songs. He has given solo concerts of his own compositions, has performed at many events hosted by the Seattle Symphony, and played sixteen times at the home of Bill Gates. Forrest is currently patenting a new kind of computer keyboard that will allow us to type all the letters of a word at once, just like playing chords on a piano.
Akiko Kinney has a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance from the University of Washington and she just finished a Master's Degree in psychotherapy and counseling. She currently teaches private students in piano, improvisation, and composition, and also has private clients. She also works one day a week in a maximum security prison. She is the author and composer of the Pearl Princess CD, as well as co-author of a number of Pattern Play books with Forrest. She regularly gives workshops for piano teachers, sharing her ways to infuse lessons with creativity and delight.

Akiko and Forrest were the featured presenters at the 2006 Michigan State Music Teacher's Conference and the Conference Clinicians at the 2008 Oklahoma State Music Teacher's Conference. They also presented at the MTNA National Conference in Toronto in April, 2007.

Phil Jensen is the artist and illustrator for the Pattern Play project. He works with Forrest and Akiko to bring their ideas and concepts into beautiful and captivating images. Besides his creative talents, his focus on communication and his willingness to continue sketching and painting until his clients are happy makes him a joy to work with.

Primarily self-taught, Phil paints to inspire others to become extraordinary in a world that too often accepts the ordinary. His faith in liberty is reflected in all the images he creates.
